This quote from Marianne Williamson, which was read during a speech by Nelson Mandela and erroneously attributed to him, sums up the Truth for me and for most people I know. Why is it so hard for us to express our true gifts, our passions in life? Why do we believe we have to "work hard" and "suffer" to make a living, rather than doing what God/Spirit/Universe put us here to do?
As I mentioned on my home page, I have studied all areas of psychic development for over 30 years. I have always been a writer, since I learned how to print letters at the age of 4 or 5. I was writing plays and forcing my two younger brothers to perform in them with me when my youngest brother was barely 3. I wrote skits and put together shows when I was 7 or 8, and I'd get all the neighborhood kids to perform in them with me.
As soon as my parents bought a typewriter (this was the 60's after all), I learned how to "hunt & peck" my way to write teleplays for TV shows. Then I'd perform the scripts I wrote for my friends.
How did I know how to write plays and TV shows? Why is it that my parents were asking me how to spell difficult words when I was only 6 years old? Why was I born with an English dictionary in my head? Could I have been here before?
In the late 70's, after moving to California from New Jersey, my metaphysical hairdresser from Jon Peters Salon in Beverly Hills dragged me kicking and screaming to a place called The Healing Light Center in Glendale, CA. It was here that my Catholic upbringing was seriously challenged when I witnessed "hands-on healing" by the gifted healer Rev. Rosalyn Bruyere. I also took classes in meditation, met my Spirit Guides (!) and began to understand chakras and auras and experienced Past Lives, OH MY!
While attending The Healing Light Center, I began channeling all sorts of interesting information from my angels and guides. I experienced "automatic writing" which hasn't stopped since. I learned to just relax and let the words flow from my guides. I'm always fascinated when I read what they've written because I don't remember a lot of it as it comes through me.
Needless to say, these experiences opened me up to the possibility that I was psychic and a healer. I became a Certified Past Lives Regressionist and did many regressions on people who had recurring problems. It was amazing to watch their lives change for the better once they cleared the energy of a past life experience.
Throughout the years I continued studying and applying what I'd learned and started teaching classes based on books I'd read and classes I'd taken. I was teaching Prosperity Principles based on Catherine Ponder's books (excellent reading and highly recommended, by the way!) and gathering people together for positive affirmation prayer circles.
I eventually discovered the Church of Religious Science, founded by Dr. Ernest Holmes, and I took every class available as quickly as possible. I became a teacher and prayer counselor, known as a Religious Science Practitioner. This enabled me to do healing work through words, a perfect fit for me.
As I continued to evolve, I became a Reiki practitioner and did hands-on energy healing. This didn't feel like a perfect fit for me, so I continued on my path and discovered Barbara Marks and Trudy Griswold, who wrote the "Angelspeake" series of books (also highly recommended reading). I attended their classes and trainings and became an Angelspeake Facilitator. I immediately started teaching people how to get written messages from their angels and guides. It is so beautiful to watch someone get his or her first, loving communication from an angel. It is always a life-changing experience!
After teaching Angelspeake classes for a while, I felt there was more for me to do. So I trained with "The Angel Lady" Dr. Doreen Virtue and became an Angel Therapy Practitioner ("ATP" for short). This enabled me to clear my past life "burning at the stake" trauma so I could do Psychic Angel Readings for clients. I also learned "Angel Therapy" techniques to help my clients heal themselves and their loved ones when necessary.
After all these years, I feel the gifts I am here to express are in the form of written and spoken words and that people are healed when I give readings or teach classes. I allow Spirit to do the work and make myself as clear a channel as possible for the information and healing energy to flow through me to the one or ones who need it.
